Jazz in Sight and Sound — The Ray Leung Jazz Orchestra Concert

The Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra is a premier jazz ensemble in Hong Kong, founded and led by renowned pianist Patrick Lui, who serves as its music director. While rooted in jazz, the orchestra integrates original compositions, arrangements of Cantopop hits, and international jazz influences, striving to promote local jazz through a sound that is distinctly "Hong Kong." A regular fixture at the West Kowloon Freespace Jazz Fest, the ensemble has collaborated with prominent artists such as Janice Vidal and Eugene Pao, and has partnered with major events including the French May Arts Festival and the Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival. In recent years, the orchestra has been invited to perform alongside stars like Keung To and Anson Lo at the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation and the Hong Kong Film Awards. Emphasizing improvisation and individual virtuosity, the ensemble frequently presents crossover performances featuring arrangements of Cantopop songs and scores from Hong Kong cinema.
