2026 NTT Encountering Giants — Aaron Lucien Owan’s *Antigone*

Drawing inspiration from the 3,000-year-old Greek tragedy *Antigone*, Norwegian choreographer Alan Lucien Øyen reimagines the narrative through the physical vocabulary of German *Tanztheater* (dance-theatre). Bridging mythological concepts and contemporary values, he poses questions that remain unresolved in our own time. Performed by a cast that includes veteran dancers from Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal alongside Taiwanese dancer Wu Meng-ke, the work invites us to re-examine—within a fractured world—how Antigone confronts the arduous choices between duty, power, and morality.
