2026 NTT "Encountering Giants" — 2025–2026 NTT Artist-in-Residence Lai Chi-hsia: *Resonance Project: Sensation & Sound*

Starting with traditional Taiwanese musical instruments, Lai Chi-hsia integrates electronic sounds with live performance. By incorporating instruments such as *muyu* (wooden fish), gongs, and drums—complemented by automated mechanisms and interactive audio systems—she allows sound to flow through the space, crafting an immersive, surround-listening experience. Developed over the course of a year-long field study, her work *Resonance Project: Sensation · Sound* invites the audience to go beyond mere "listening"; it encourages them to physically perceive the back-and-forth vibrations of sound, opening up new imaginative possibilities for sound through an interplay of the senses.
