2026 NTT "Encountering Giants" — Ming Hwa Yuan Arts & Cultural Group: *A Comedy of Errors Across the Realm*

The 2026 flagship production from the Ming Hwa Yuan Arts & Cultural Group! Based on historical events, *Oolong Under Heaven* (《乌龙天下》) chronicles the remarkable life of Li Chun-sheng—the "Father of Taiwanese Oolong Tea." Rising from humble origins as the son of a ferryman, Li navigates the turbulent landscape of the late Qing Dynasty, orchestrating strategic moves that propel Taiwanese tea onto the global stage. The production reimagines iconic 19th-century historical episodes from the Dadaocheng area—including the "Ding-Xia Jiao Conflict," the "Camphor War," and the "Wanhua Tenancy Dispute"—while incorporating the distinct linguistic cadences of both the Zhangzhou and Quanzhou dialects into its musical score. This groundbreaking work marks the first-ever *Gezai* opera (Taiwanese traditional opera) centered on the theme of "commercial warfare."
